Windows Server 2022 Standard License
Windows Server 2022 offers advanced multi-layered security, hybrid capabilities with Azure, and a flexible application platform. As part of this release, we're bringing secure kernel features to help protect hardware, firmware, and Windows Server OS capabilities against advanced security threats. The secure core server is built on technologies such as Windows Defender System Protection and Virtualization Based Security to minimize the risk from firmware vulnerabilities and advanced malware. The new version also provides secure connectivity, introducing several new features such as faster and more secure encrypted HTTPS connections, industry standard SMB AES 256 encryption, and more.
Windows Server 2022 improves hybrid server management with significantly improved VM management, an enhanced event viewer, and many more new features in Windows Admin Center. Additionally, this release includes significant improvements to Windows containers such as smaller image sizes for faster downloading, simplified network policy enforcement, and containerization tools for .NET applications.
Choose a version and an installation option:
Customers downloading the full ISO will need to choose a version and an installation option. This ISO assessment is for Datacenter and Standard editions. The Datacenter edition is the most complete and includes unlimited server virtualization plus new Datacenter-specific features (Shielded Virtual Machines, Storage Direct, and Software Defined Networking).
Installation options:
Server Core: This is the recommended installation option. It is a smaller installation that includes the core components of Windows Server and supports all server roles, but does not include a native graphical user interface (GUI). Used for remotely managed “headless” deployments via Windows Admin Center, PowerShell, or other server management tools.
Desktop Experienced Server: This is the full setup and includes a complete GUI for customers choosing this option.
Once you've completed your evaluation, you can convert your evaluation versions to retail.
